Mountain Biking Lessons & Camps at Fernie Alpine Resort

Looking to improve your mountain biking skills or try downhill riding for the first time?

Fernie Alpine Resort’s Summer Adventure School offers private lessons, skill-building clinics, and multi-day camps led by expert coaches. Whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced rider, we offer programs designed to enhance your confidence and technique.

DISCOVER MOUNTAIN BIKING PACKAGE

Experience the thrill of downhill biking with a 3-hour session that includes:

  • 3 hours of Professional Coaching

  • 3-hour Downhill Mountain Bike Rental

  • 3-hour Lift Ticket

Who is it for?

  • Novice riders (Level 1)

  • Private groups only (max. 7 participants)

  • Ages 8+ (ages 6 & 7 available by special booking)

MOUNTAIN BIKE PRIVATE LESSONS

Take your riding to the next level with private sessions for beginners to advanced riders. Tailored coaching ensures rapid progress.

Designed for riders 17 and older, our clinics focus on building technical skills, improving control, and increasing confidence.

  • Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (4 hours instruction + 1-hour lunch break)

  • Price: $140 per person (includes lift ticket + coaching)

KIDS & YOUTH FREERIDE CAMPS

Our 2-day downhill mountain biking camps are designed for children aged 8–16, helping them build confidence while tackling Fernie’s world-class terrain.

Details:

  • Ages: 8–12 (Kids) & 13–16 (Youth)

  • Dates 2025:

    • Kids (Beginner/Intermediate): July 7–8, July 21–22, August 4–5, August 18–19

    • Youth (Beginner/Intermediate): July 14–15, July 28–29, August 11–12, August 25–26

  • Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

  • Price: $319 + GST (includes 2-day lift ticket)

  • Safety: Disc-brake mountain bikes required, helmets/pads mandatory

  • Discount: 15% off rental bikes

MOUNTAIN BIKE ABILITY CHART



LEVEL 1

Novice

You are new to mountain biking or cross country biking, and have basic bike handling skills and are comfortable and in control of your bike on paved surfaces.



LEVEL 2

Beginner

You have tried mountain biking or cross country biking before, riding off-road rocky terrain with limited experience, riding green runs.



LEVEL 3

Intermediate

You are comfortable on your mountain bike and have been riding single track trails and most blue runs with confidence. You can control bike speed and direction most of the time and have been riding for at least 2 years.



LEVEL 4

Advanced

You have already developed strong riding skills and have a minimum of 3 years of mountain biking experience. You ride blue and most black run with confidence, like technical descends, obstacles and fast-paced riding.

CANCELLATION POLICY

The following refund/cancellation policies apply:

• 24 hours before lesson start time – Rebooking of lessons or a full refund less a $29 admin fee.

• Within 24 hours of the lesson start time – Rebooking of lesson ($29 admin fee), no refund.

• No-show for lessons – No refund and No rebooking of lessons.
