Scott Downhill Race Series 2023 – Wednesday Afternoon Kids & Youth Race

Unfortunately, due to a power outage the resort will be closed today. As a result, we must cancel tonight’s finale race, and re-schedule the series awards ceremony.
To keep things as fair as possible, we will close the series with the current standings. You can view the standings here:
We’re really sorry and appreciate that this cancellation is disappointing. However we still want to end the season with some stoke. As a result, we would still like to offer our kids/youth one last chance to have a timed run and win some draw prizes. Racers are welcome to attend the adults race tomorrow night at 6:30pm and we will allow any kids / youth that are interested to ride before the adults and get a time on the course. Please note however that your time tomorrow night will not count towards the kids & youth race series points. We’ve made this decision to ensure that in the likely event that there are some racers who can not attend on Thursday, then they are not at a disadvantage for the overall series. If you would like to race please sign up via the link below into your usual category (we will also waive the $5 fee).
We will reschedule the awards ceremony for the podium prize winners in each category to tomorrow, 31st August at 7:30pm. If you’re available then please come up to the resort and cheer for all the kids and youth riders who’ve ridden hard all summer and for the winners in each category to collect their prizes. If you’ve won a prize for coming 1st / 2nd / 3rd in your category but are unable to attend tomorrow, please just let us know and we can store the prize at the resort for you to collect at guest services. Or we can arrange to mail it to you if you are unable to come up to the resort before we close.
Wednesday Afternoon Kids & Youth Race Details: (Go to Thursday’s Adult/Master race)
Everyone’s favourite weekly bike race series is back for 2023 – The Scott Downhill Race Series!
Come out each week for a fun, gravity-fed downhill race followed by prizing, results, and a beverage at Legends Mountain Eatery.
Kids & Youth (ages 8-17) race on Wednesday Afternoons at 4:30 pm.
Adults & Masters (ages 18+) race on Thursdays at 6:30 pm.
Races run weekly from June 28th to August 31st, with the exception of July 12 & 13, to allow our team to prepare for the Canadian National DH Championships.
The race will be on a different bike trail each week. Racers will get one lap down the designated course and are timed via our manual Webscorer App. The course will be open to the public all day, and racers are encouraged to take a practice run as no formal training run will occur. Following the race, competitors can head over to Legend’s and trade in their race plate for a cold beverage to enjoy as times are tabulated. The prize ceremony will follow in the plaza approx. 20-30 min after the last racer has crossed the finish line. Weekly prizes are given out via draw prizes, plus competitors accumulate points at each race, and series champions in each category are crowned at the final race (please note racers must compete in a minimum of 3 races over the season to qualify for the overall standings).

*Race category is determined by your age at your first race
*Minimum age is 8 years old (If a competitor turns 8 over the summer, they can only compete after their birthday)
The entry fee is $5 per race (includes race and post-race drink while waiting for the results/awards).
A lift ticket or a season pass is required to access the race course. (Lift ticket is not included in the entry fee).
ALL registrations must be completed ONLINE before 3:45 pm on race day. Registration will open the Thursday prior to each race. Spots are limited, so register early. Races usually fill up fast!
EVENT RELEASE AGREEMENT:
Resort event release agreement waiver(s) are required prior to registering for the races. Racers must complete up to 2 waivers to participate in the race.
- Racers aged 16 and over must complete a resort EVENT RELEASE AGREEMENT WAIVER.
- Racers aged 15 and under must complete 2 waivers and have their parent or legal guardian complete both an EVENT RELEASE AGREEMENT WAIVER AND a PARENTAL CONSENT WAIVER.
Waiver(s) are to be completed online once and will cover the whole series. All waivers must be completed online prior to registering for the week. Once the waiver is complete, you will receive a unique ID code to enter into the registration.
All racers must check in on race day race to pay their $5 registration fee and collect their race plate.
Please note all competitors MUST complete their Event Waiver(s) online prior to check-in.
Racing will start at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, and we will have staggered start times to avoid any crowding at the start area. Each racer will be allocated a specific start time.

To ensure we can fill as many spots as possible and start the race on time if racers do not cancel and do not show up for the race, they may lose future racing privileges.
