2025 Jeep Junior Freeride Presented by Rossignol, Smith Optics & Helly Hansen
Fernie Alpine Resort is excited to host the Jeep Junior Freeride IFSA Regional 2* Event. This event provides an opportunity for youth between the ages of 7 and 18 to develop and showcase their freeskiing & freeriding skills in a fun and supportive environment.
To align with the IFSA qualification standards, the event is open to skiers & snowboarders ages 7 to 18, featuring six categories: 7-11 /12-14/15-18 male and female. All age cut-off dates are based on the age turned before December 31, 2024. Competitors will display their skiing skills on natural terrain while being judged on five categories – Line Choice, Control, Fluidity, Technique, and Style/Energy. The Jeep Junior Freeride Series is a part of the Resort of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) ongoing commitment to providing active and healthy pursuits for youth.

REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION OPENING UPDATE – Registration will open on Saturday, December 28th at 6pm (MST) .
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Being a 2* Junior Event registration will be split 50% seeding athletes and 50% timestamp athletes. During registration, every athlete will have 72 hours to complete their registration, and all athletes will be immediately placed on a waitlist. Once the 72-hour registration window is closed, the top-seeded athletes will be moved off the waitlist and confirmed until 50% of each division in the event is full. Once the seeding spots are full, the remaining 50% of event registration starts and will be awarded by registration timestamp (first-come, first-served).
Registration process to assure consistency across 2* Events:
Step 1: Registration will open on Liveheats, as scheduled by the Regional Series Directors. All athletes who register are automatically placed on a waitlist.
Step 2: After 72 hours, registration closes, and no further athletes will be able to sign up for the competition.
Step 3: Once the 72-hour registration window closes, the top-seeded athletes will be moved off the waitlist and confirmed until 50% of each category in the event is full. (50% seeding)
Step 4: The remaining 50% of event starts will be confirmed by time-stamp, with athletes who registered the earliest being moved off the waitlist until all categories in the competition are full. (50% open registration)
Payment: Credit Cards are charged at the time of athlete confirmation when they are taken off of the waitlist, along with non-refundable LiveHeats and IFSA fees. Cancellation before Step 2, the 72 hour registration window closing, is possible without penalty or charge.
NOTE: For 2024-2025, four Regions have elected to restrict 2* registration to athletes within their Region, so as to guarantee enough starts for their local junior athlete community. These Regions include Western Canada which is Fernie’s event region. Once these Regions have completed the above registration process, they have the choice to reopen registration for their 2* events to out of region athletes, should these events not be full.

ISSUES & CANCELLATIONS: For all Regional 2* Events, registration is now being managed by the IFSA Regional Directors (until 2 weeks out from the event where it is handed over to the resort). OTHER IMPORTANT INFO FOR REGISTRATION
– All athletes MUST have a current IFSA Membership, Regional Membership and your IFSA username and password to register.
– It is mandatory for all athletes to have a CERTIFIED IFSA COACH with a current IFSA Coach Membership. This includes Independent Athletes – Independent Athletes must have an IFSA certified Parent Coach
– RCR Waivers are mandatory at time of registration. Please complete the appropriate waivers below and have the unique ID codes on hand and ready to enter into the registration form.
Waivers
All athletes must complete the online RCR Event Release Agreement(s) prior to completing registration this year.
- Competitors 16yrs and older must complete the RCR Event Agreement. The competitor can complete this waiver.
- Competitors 15 yrs and younger must complete BOTH the RCR Event Agreement AND the RCR Parental Agreement. The competitor’s parent or legal guardian must complete these two agreements.
Once complete, you will receive a unique “Agreement ID” for each waiver you fill out. Please save the code(s), as you will need to enter the code(s) during the registration process.

Thursday, February 6th: Check-In, Free-riding and possible soft venue inspection (conditions permitting)
Friday, February 7th: Qualifiers Day 1*
– Day 1 Qualifier Categories will be announced once registration is complete
Saturday, February 8th: Qualifiers Day 2*
– Day 2 Qualifier Categories will be announced once registration is complete
Sunday, February 9th: Finals (all categories)
*Day 1 and Day 2 qualifiers will be broken up by categories. Please make sure you note which day your category qualifier will be.
Lift Tickets
- Competitors and coaches receive a 20% discount on lift tickets. Discount vouchers will be given out at check-in with athlete packages.
- All competitors can receive up to two (2) discount vouchers for their family members.
