Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge
Get outside and “Feel Alive” with the Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge!
Come and experience the amazing network of hiking trails at Fernie Alpine Resort. There is a wide variety of trails for all abilities, from beautiful old-growth cedar forests to fossil zones to alpine meadows with valley views.
For the month of August, as you are out hiking on the trails, complete the different Helly Hansen Hiking Challenges, submit your photos and/or answers, and be entered into prize draws for amazing Helly Hansen gear. The more challenges you do, the more chances you have to win! Plus, take part in the BONUS Helly Hansen “Feel Alive” Photo Challenge.
2 Ways to Take Part:
1 – Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge:
- Check back here on August 1st for a list of the different Helly Hansen Hiking Challenges.
- Complete the challenge on the various trail locations. The challenges will involve finding signage on designated hiking trails and completing either a Helly Hansen Trivia question or a photo with the sign.
- Please submit your photo and/or answer for each challenge virtually on our online submission form.
- You get one (1) entry into the Grand Prize Draw for every challenge you complete correctly!
- You don’t have to do all the challenges. You can do one challenge or all of them. The more challenges you complete, the more entries you get into the Grand Prize Draw and the more chances you have to win!
- Challenge is open from August 1st – August 31st, with submissions due by September 1st at 9 am (MDT).
- You don’t have to do all the challenges in one day. You can do different challenges on different days over the month.
2 – Helly Hansen “Feel Alive” Photo Challenge:
- Helly Hansen creates professional-grade apparel that helps people stay and feel alive. In the spirit of Helly Hansen, choose your favourite hiking trail at Fernie Alpine Resort and strike your best “Feel Alive” pose!
- One entry is allowed per person. Entries will be accepted until September 1st at 9 am (MDT).
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep your photos family-friendly and respect nature and yourself. Photos of the trail that damage the natural flora and fauna, disturb wildlife and/or include dangerous poses (sitting on/hanging off the observation deck railings, sitting on the edge of cliffs etc.) will be disqualified.
Prizes:
There are 2 amazing Helly Hansen prizes to be won!
- Grand Prize – The winner receives a jacket and pants from the Helly Hansen Mountain Collection plus some additional Helly Hansen swag (total value approx. $1000). The winner will be selected by random draw.
- Feel Alive Photo Challenge – The winner will receive a jacket from the Helly Hansen Mountain Collection plus some additional Helly Hansen Swag (total value approx. $600). The winner will be selected by a panel of Helly Hansen and Fernie Alpine Resort staff.

Trail: Old Growth Magical Forest
Challenge: Photo Challenge – Find the Helly Hansen sign as you are hiking along the Old Growth Magical Forest trail. Take a photo as per the directions on the sign and upload the photo on the submission form.
Challenge #2
Trail: Boom Trail
Challenge: Helly Hansen Trivia – Find the Helly Hansen sign as you are hiking along Boom Trail. Read the Helly Hansen information on the sign and fill in the answer to the question from the sign on the submission form.

Trail/Location: Lizard Observation Deck of the Summer Road Trail
Challenge: Photo Challenge – Find the Helly Hansen sign on the Lizard Observation Deck. Take a photo as per the directions on the sign and upload the photo on the submission form

Trail: Megasaurus
Challenge: Helly Hansen Trivia – Find the Helly Hansen sign on the Megasaurus Hiking Trail. Read the Helly Hansen information on the sign and fill in the answer to the question from the sign on the submission form.

Trail/Location: Fossil Zone on Skelton Flats Trail
Challenge: Photo Challenge – Find the Helly Hansen sign at the Fossil Zone on the Skeleton Flats trail. Take a photo as per the directions on the sign and upload the photo on the submission form.

Trail: Daisy Lane
Challenge: Photo Challenge – Find the Helly Hansen sign along the Daisy Lane Hiking Trail. Take a photo as per the directions on the sign and upload the photo on the submission form.

Trail: Far Out
Challenge: Helly Hansen Trivia – Find the Helly Hansen sign located on the Far Out Base Area Hiking Trail. Read the Helly Hansen information on the sign and fill in the answer to the question from the sign on the submission form.

Challenge: Photo Challenge – Find the Helly Hansen sign along the Double Creek Base Area Trail. Take photos as per the directions on the sign and upload the photos on the submission form.

Note: There is no entry fee to participate in the Helly Hansen Hiking Challenge or Photo Challenge, but please note that a valid lift ticket or summer season pass is needed to ride the Elk Chairlift to access the upper mountain hiking trails. The base area multi-use trails require either a Day Ticket (for the day you use the trails), Summer Season Pass, or Multi-Use Trail Pass to use those trails (the multi-use trail pass can be purchased for $5 at Guest Services and is valid all summer).
