WINTER OPENING DAY 2025.26

Celebrate the start of ski season at Fernie Alpine Resort’s Winter Opening Day on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Be part of the excitement as we spin the lifts for the first time, enjoy early-season skiing and riding, and soak up the mountain atmosphere. Check the Snow Report for terrain updates, lift openings, and early-season conditions. Plan ahead, grab your pass, and join us for the first turns of winter in Fernie, BC.

We’re excited to kick off the 2025/26 winter season on Saturday, December 6th!
 
To start, terrain will be limited. At this time, we can confirm the Elk Chair will be spinning with access to Lizard Run. Additional terrain is so close to being ready, but we need a few more centimetres of snow before we can safely expand.
 
With snowfall in the forecast, now’s the moment to bring out your best snow dances. We expect to have more details about opening day on Thursday, so stay tuned.

What to Expect (will be updated on Thursday, Dec 4)

  • Lifts & Terrain: A limited selection for opening day; terrain will expand as conditions allow.

  • Grooming: Early-season groomed runs with marked hazards—ski/ride with care.

  • Food & Beverage: We expect Cirque Restaurant, Legends Mountain Eatery, Griz Bar, Lost Boys Cafe, Slopeside Cafe and the Daylodge to be open.

  • Retail & Rentals: Fernie Winter Sport School, Rental Shop, Repair Shop and Sports Alpine Boutique will be open.

  • Apres: Low-key opening-day celebrations après ski (venue and times to be confirmed).

Safety & Early-Season Advice

  • Natural, unmarked hazards exist. Respect all closures and slow zones.

  • Ski and ride to the conditions.

  • If you’re not sure, ask our Patrol or Guest Services teams.

Yes, you can pick up your season pass or ticket on opening day, but please be prepared for long lineups. If possible, we recommend picking it up in the days before.
