Hockey Days with the Fernie Ghostriders

Get Ready for the Ultimate Hockey Skills Showdown On The Snow!

Ready to compete, have fun, and win incredible prizes? Join us for Hockey Day(s) in Fernie at the Bears Den on Saturday, January 10th, for an action-packed skills competition open to all ages and skill levels! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned player, this is your chance to showcase your talent and have a blast while competing for awesome prizes. That evening, cheer on our local junior hockey team, the Fernie Ghostriders, as they take on the Kimberly Dynamiters. Then, on Sunday, January 11th, come up to the plaza in the afternoon for a meet and greet with members from the Fernie Ghostriders!  It's going to be a weekend of jam-packed hockey fun.

The Challenges:

Earn draw prize entries for participation and placing in these exciting events:

  • Goalie Accuracy Shootout: Target the four corners of the net and hit them in the fastest time. Can you score a perfect round?
  • Hardest Shot: Show off your raw power and see who can deliver the hardest shot!
  • Puck Handling Drill: Navigate through obstacles and demonstrate your puck control in this fast-paced challenge.

Draw Prizes!

Participation is FREE! (Make sure to complete an event waiver before competing.)

Prizes include:

  • Calgary Flames Heritage Classic Jersey 
  • Coca-Cola Prize Packs 
  • Hats, Water bottles and more! 

 

How to Win?

Prizes will be awarded via random draws, but the more you participate, the more chances you have to win!

  • 1 entry for participating in each challenge (up to 3 entries if you do all 3 challenges)
  • Bonus Entries: Earn extra entries for placing in the top 5 of each event:
    • 1st place: 5 bonus entries
    • 2nd place: 4 bonus entries
    • 3rd place: 3 bonus entries
    • 4th place: 2 bonus entries
    • 5th place: 1 bonus entry
  • Show Your Colours: Wear a jersey from your team (or favourite team) and get 1 extra entry (2 if you wear a Fernie Ghostriders or Calgary Flames jersey). Hockey gear optional … actually no, ski/ride safely - all you need is a jersey!

Event Schedule:

Saturday – Skills challenges at the Bears Den:

  • 11 AM –12 PM: Goalie Accuracy Shootout
  • 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM: Hardest Shot
  • 1.30 PM - Fernie Ghostriders team members join us
  • 2 PM–3 PM: Puck Handling Drill

Drop by anytime during these hours and take your turn!  Draws for the prizes will take place at 3.30 PM.

Bonus: Cheer on the Fernie Ghostriders as they take on the Kimberly Dynamiters that evening!

  • 7:00 PM: Ghostriders vs. Dynamiters at Fernie Memorial Arena

Sunday – Meet-and-Greet with Local Fernie Ghostriders

  • 12 PM - 2 PM: Get up close with some of your favourite Fernie Ghostriders players!
