SKI ABILITY CHART

NEVER EVER

Level 1

You have never skied before or are not able to stop with confidence on a gentle slope.

NOVICE

Level 2

You’ve skied a couple of times but only on the easiest green runs. You are able to control your speed and change direction on the easiest slope. You ski green runs comfortably but would like more confidence as you gain speed. Your skis are sometimes parallel as you finish a turn.

COMFORTABLE NOVICE

Level 3

You can link turns on green runs. You occasionally ski an easier blue run with caution.

INTERMEDIATE

Level 4

You can comfortably link turns on easy blue runs with your skis mostly parallel. You are starting to work on the rhythm of your turns. You ski blue runs with confidence and speed and may attempt easy black runs.

ADVANCED

Level 5

You ski blue runs with confidence and speed and are looking to challenge steeper terrain, black runs and off-piste terrain. You like skiing the upper mountain and always ski parallel. You are comfortable on most black runs and off-piste but want to ski with more performance and confidence.

EXPERT

Level 6

You ski in control in all conditions and terrain. You are looking to refine your skills using expert terrain.

SNOWBOARD ABILITY CHART

NEVER EVER

Level 1

You have never boarded before or require hand assistance to stop safely.

NOVICE

Level 2

You can control your speed and direction on the heel edge and want to learn how to your the toe edge. You are cautious on green runs. You can control your speed and direction on both the heel and toe edge and want to learn how to transition smoothly between the two.

COMFORTABLE NOVICE

Level 3

You can complete heel and toe side turns on gentle green terrain. You are learning to link turns.

INTERMEDIATE

Level 4

You can control your speed and direction on both the heel and toe edge and are starting to transition smoothly between the two. You are able to smoothly transition between both edges on green runs and are riding some easy blue runs. You are ready to move onto more challenging blue runs.

ADVANCED

Level 5

You are able to transition smoothly between both edges on blue runs and some easier black runs. You are looking to challenge steeper black runs and off-piste conditions but want to ride with more performance and confidence.

EXPERT

Level 6

You can snowboard in control in all conditions and terrain. You are interested in refining your skills and techniques.
