Join us for crafts, group activities, and family events from December 20th - January 3rd! We have a variety of daily and weekly events to choose from.

December 23rd & 24th

Enjoy a few laps with Santa and his helpful elf on the hill as they spread holiday cheer all across the resort! Catch them cruising the groomers and stopping for festive photos. Holiday outfits are encouraged!

10 AM to 12 PM - Skiing with Santa on the Lower Mountain

12:30PM to 2 PM - Photos with Santa in the Daylodge

Fireworks

Join us for an evening of fun, free family activities ending with a spectacular fireworks show (held in partnership with Tourism Fernie). The fireworks will take place on the Mighty Moose slope at 9 pm.  The best viewing areas for the fireworks will be at the base of the Mighty Moose run.

Family Activities

We will also have a variety of family crafts and activities in Slopeside Cafe from 7pm - 9pm. The activities are FREE of charge. The cafe will also be open for you to purchase hot chocolate and other warm drinks to warm up before the fireworks.

NOTE: Due to the high volume of people expected for New Year's Eve, no sledding or toboggining is permitted on the Mighty Moose and lower mountain. Grab your skis/snowboards for some night skiing and join us inside Slopeside Cafe for family activities instead!  

Get ready to rock into 2026 at the Griz Bar's legendary New Year's Eve Party!

The Todd Sellecks, an NYE favourite, will be performing live again this year! The tickets are $85+gst and include live music, a midnight champagne toast, and a late-night poutine bar.

The party is for guests 19 years of age and older, and the doors open at 8 pm.

Tickets are required for entry, and they sell out every year, so make sure to get yours before it's too late!

Fernie Alpine Resort is excited to host the Jeep Junior Freeride IFSA Regional 2* Event. This event provides an opportunity for youth between the ages of 7 and 18 to develop and showcase their freeskiing & freeriding skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Competitors will display their skiing skills on natural terrain while being judged on five categories – Line Choice, Control, Fluidity, Technique, and Style/Energy. The Jeep Junior Freeride Series is a part of the Resort of the Canadian Rockies (RCR) ongoing commitment to providing active and healthy pursuits for youth.

Enjoy a weekend of fun, family-friendly activities!

There will be plenty of fun activities throughout the weekend for you and your loved ones to enjoy while on the ski hill.

Get ready for some friendly family competition! Whether it's racing your mom, cousin, or sibling, the Family Fun Race is all about having fun together on Sunday, Feb 15th.

Families can sign up to race down the course. However, unlike a traditional race, the families are tasked with guessing their combined time to complete the course. The winner is then the family that was closest to their correct time. The race will consist of a gentle slalom course open to most skill levels.

The first event in the Raging Elk Community Event Series and a highlight of Fernie’s winter Griz Festival! Strictly for fun, this competition features imaginative & hilarious “dummies” on skis launching themselves off a gigantic jump beside the Timber Chair.

The dummies can be created from various materials, and creativity is stressed. They are judged on their construction, creativity, theme, distance, and the carnage factor when they land.

Prizes are awarded for the best construction, theme/name, disintegration, flight, and more!
