'Nature Bob' (Bob Livsey) guided people around at Fernie Alpine Resort for over 19 years. Bob was a certified naturalist interpreter with a background in forestry who had a great passion for the mountains and a depth of knowledge that is only achievable through years of experience. We are continuing Bob's legacy through the "Nature Bob's Interpretive Centre" throughout the summer - drop by to check out the interesting nature facts, fossils and interactive displays. The staff on hand that have worked with Bob over the years are always happy to answer questions and chat with our guests, and share stories not just about our beautiful surroundings, but about Nature Bob as well.
Many of the fossils, pictures and artifacts in the centre have been gifted to Fernie Alpine Resort by the Livsey family.
Throughout our local mountain range there is a huge variety of native flora, wildlife and fossils. Without doubt the way to learn about these subjects and walk these mountains is with one of our interpretive guides. Take an interpretive guided hike on one of the resort's many trails and gain a deeper understanding of how our valley was formed and how special our ecosystem is. Our interpretive guides will help you discover some secrets of the natural world while exploring the rugged terrain around Fernie Alpine Resort.
