Avalanche Awareness Days 2026

START TIME 01/17/2026 at 1PM
END TIME 01/18/2026 at 3PM
LOCATION Fernie Alpine Resort

Fernie Alpine Resort is proud to join Avalanche Canada, fellow resorts, and mountain clubs across the country in celebrating Avalanche Awareness Days. A weekend dedicated to winter safety, education, and community.

Join us in the base area and on the mountain for two days of interactive, hands-on learning with our patrol team and partners.

What’s On

Transceiver Hunt
Did you know Fernie Alpine Resort has a dedicated transceiver training area? Located on Heartland, just above the 100% Road, this hands-on session is a great opportunity to practise your search skills.
• Learn how to use a transceiver (bring your own or use one provided)
• Test your skills in the training area
• Each buried transceiver you find earns an entry into a prize draw featuring prizes from Helly Hansen and Avalanche Canada

Avalanche Rescue Dog Demonstration
Meet one of the incredible CARDA avalanche rescue dogs and learn about their training and real-world role in search and rescue.

Snow Pit Demonstration
Join our professional patrol team for a live snow pit profile demonstration. Learn how snow pits are used to assess snowpack structure and support decision-making in avalanche terrain.

Fundraising Auction
Head to the Griz Bar during Saturday après to bid on great gear donated by Avalanche Canada sponsors.
100% of proceeds go directly to Avalanche Canada in support of avalanche education and awareness.
