Virtual Raging Elk Kinky Rail Jam Series #1

Skiers and snowboarders will slide with style at the Fernie Alpine Resort Rail Park as they compete against their peers for the top spot in their respective categories.

The event is expanded into a three-part series. Three events spread over through January, February, and March. Each event will showcase different features in the rail park by local shredders.  The January and February events are virtual formats.  We are hoping to make the March 19th event in person (COVID restrictions permitting).

Dates:
January 15th-16th (series 1)
For this first event, the entire park is in play.  Put together your best tricks and line on the feature or combination of features you feel most comfortable on.

February 19th-27th (series 2)

March 19th (Finale)
*Please note that all events are subject to change due to provincial health regulations surrounding Covid-19.

How does the series work?

Virtual Format – Series 1 & 2
Each event will have a different set of features in the Fernie Alpine Resort Terrain Park . Hit the lines, capture your best hit, and upload your video entry using our online submission form.
Share your videos on social media, tag @FernieAlpineResort, @RagingElkHostel, and #RagingElkRailJam for extra kudos!

In-Person Format – Series 3 (COVID restrictions permitting)
Join us in the Rail Park for an in-person competition where you showcase your skills on set features in front of our judges and your fellow shredders.

How to compete in the Virtual Formats:

1. Complete your RCR Release Agreement(s).
   1. Competitors 16yrs and older need to complete an Event Release Agreement
   2. Competitors 15yrs and younger need to have their parent or legal guardian complete BOTH the Event Release Agreement AND the Parental Consent Agreement
   3. Waiver(s) can be completed online via the following link:

   4. If you completed your Release Agreement online for the first event, those agreements cover the second and third event , so you do not need to do them again
   5. You can confirm you have completed your Release Agreements when you receive an email copy of the agreement(s).
2. Register for the event
   1. Registration is $10+gst and covers all 3 events. You only have to register once.

3. Ride the features in the Rail Park on the event dates.  (Please note helmets are mandatory).   For this first event, the entire park is in play.  Ride the features that you feel the most comfortable on.  Can just be one feature or put together a line of a few different features.
4. Capture your line on video
   1. 1. Can be on a single feature, a full-line, and/or multi-line/feature video edit
      2. Capture 1 trick or several tricks however video submissions can only be a maximum of 1 minute long.
      3. You must at least 1 shot of the Fernie Flags & Sponsor Banners in your video so we know you rode the park over the specific event dates
5. Upload your video using our online entry form
   1. Online Entry Form is available on the event page starting on the 1st day of the event
   2. Videos must be under the maximum size of 1GB

Competition Rules:

• All registrations must be ONLINE. No on-the-day, in-person registration will be accepted.
• The Raging Elk Kinky Rail Jam is open to all ages, disciplines, and abilities.
• Helmets are MANDATORY for all competitors. Submissions where the skier/rider is not wearing a helmet will not be judged.
• MANDATORY EVENT RELEASE AGREEMENTS – Participants must have completed their RCR event release agreement(s) as stated above for their entry to be counted.  If the Release Agreements are not complete the entry will not be judged.
• One submission per competitor.  Your video submission must not be longer than one minute or bigger than 1GB

Judging:

• Videos will be judged by our talented rail park staff
• They will be awarding prizes for best trick and best line in the following categories:
  • Grom Ski – Male & Female
  • Grom Snowboard – Male & Female
  • Open Ski – Male & Female
  • Open Snowboard – Male & Female
• Note for video submissions – make it fun but the judges are judging your style and your tricks (not your video editing skills) so focus on showcasing your tricks instead of the edit.
