Fossils & Geology Hike
Back by popular demand – we will be adding one more specialty hike on Fossils & Geology to our summer hiking program!
A 380 million year old history lesson: Fossils & Geology
Why are the rocks in the Lizard range upside down? And how does Polar Peak tell the story of a mass extinction event 360 million years ago? Find out the answers to these questions and more as we traverse ancient sea beds, uncovering the remnants of the sea creatures that lived in ancient times.
Our specialty hikes are fully guided by our experienced, professional staff. Hikes are moderate difficulty, and are 3 hours in length. This hike will start at the top of the Timber Chair and follow the Megasaurus trail through some amazing fossils zones, to the top of the Elk Chair. Guests are welcome to download to the base area via the Elk Chair, or they are also welcome to join our free daily interpretive walk down to the base area which leaves Nature Bob’s Interpretive Centre at approximately 2pm.
